When considering Rod's abilities as an athlete, one would have to describe him as a renaissance
man of the sporting arena. At the young age of ten, Rod took up golf, showing a distinct talent
for the game. At fifteen he excelled as a baseball pitcher (senior league) when he was scouted
by LA Dogers pitching coaches, Sweet Lou and Ron Peranoski. It seemed as though baseball was
the direction he would take, but golf pulled him more and more. Finding himself as an athlete,
he branched out even further and became a professional curler and participated in two
World Curling Tour Events. At the same time he was a member of the Nancy Green Ski School,
Level I Ski Instructor, captain of his soccer team in Lethbridge and squeezing time in for hockey,
Rod was the consummate athlete.

Still golf seemed the way he felt he should go, and he has never looked back. Having played in the
Can-Taiwan Pro Am, CPGA Professional Tour, and the CPGA Transamerica championship he has certainly
made his talent obvious and his ability known.
Working as a course Golf Pro at various clubs, the Richmond Golf & Country Club and the Coyote Creek Golf &
Country Club, just to mention a few, he has passed on his expertise to others.
Rod also dabbled in Vancouver's Film industry and entertaining as a drummer in a Vancouver based band. Through it all
golf is what Rod feels to be the constant passion in his life. A number of people have said that Rod is
"poetry in motion" on the course and they love to watch him play. His love of the game, his expertise,
his patience, quick wit and humorous charm all add to the dynamics in creating the mix required to make ForePlay Golf a "HIT".
